Apply to the Teach Kentucky Program

Teach Kentucky accepts applications from aspiring teachers who are not yet certified and are interested in becoming certified through Kentucky’s Option 6 Alternative Route Certification pathway.

This application is specifically for the Louisville-area Teach Kentucky program, where participants:

  • Teach in Jefferson County Public Schools
  • Complete certification and graduate coursework through our partner universities.

Please note: Applying to Teach Kentucky is an application to join the program — not an application for a specific teaching job. Accepted participants work with TKY staff to apply for positions within Jefferson County Public Schools.

The Application Process

3 Steps to Getting Started

Apply Online

Submit your application online via AppliTrack with resume, transcripts, and basic background info. Apply early — earlier applications have the best chance of placement.

Initial Conversation

A TKY team member contacts you to schedule an introductory call where you can learn about the program, ask questions, and discuss certification pathways.

Interview & Recruiting Weekend

Selected applicants will be invited to participate in our recruiting weekend where you will meet staff and current participants, learn about life in Louisville, connect with our university and district partners, and explore certification and teaching opportunities.

After Acceptance

What Comes Next

Once accepted, participants earn certification through an approved MAT program while teaching full-time in JCPS.
