Louisville, Kentucky, (October 13, 2016) – Teach Kentucky (TKY) announces its 2017 teacher recruitment initiatives to meet JCPS’s STEM educator demand at Louisville Water Tower Park tonight at 5:30 pm. Through a series of local strategic partnerships, TKY is offering increased incentives to attract talented STEM educators to Louisville’s public schools. A special announcement will be shared at the event.
TKY’s founder and president, Rowan Claypool, says, “This is the most critical staffing need in our region and it also holds the most potential to improving educational attainment.”
Event host, Louisville Water Company, partners with TKY where its in-house educators work directly with TKY’s science teachers to share STEM curriculum resources. The Louisville Water Foundation helps fund STEM teacher recruitment activities.
TKY science teacher at Olmsted Academy South, Eunbee Kim, is grateful for this collaboration.
Ms. Kim says, “Our sixth grade students will have a unit on weather and water at the end of the school year. Therefore, incorporation of Louisville Water with our classes during this time period would be extremely beneficial for our students.”
“Teach Kentucky has allowed Louisville Water to expand its educational footprint in middle and high schools,” said Kelley Dearing-Smith, Louisville Water Company Vice President of Communications and Marketing. “When our educators visit classrooms, we’re bringing real-world examples to the science curriculum. It’s a valuable partnership.”
